A new Dodge Data & Analytics study shows that permit values for commercial construction projects in Central Florida this year totaled $1.3 billion through August. This number represents a 71 percent increase when compared with the $766.9 million reported for the same time period of 2014. Commercial permits included those pulled for office, retail, hotels, warehouses, schools, medical facilities and religious institution projects.
Homebuilders in the region pulled permits valued at $3.2 billion for the same period, a 26 percent increase when compared with the first eight months of 2014. In total, Central Florida building permit values went up 36 percent between January and August, from $3.31 billion in 2014 to $4.51 billion so far this year.
