The initial Libeň bridge crisis is over, as tram and automobile traffic is scheduled to return to normal on Saturday. The bridge had been closed for a month after structural engineers declared it to be in a state of catastrophic disrepair. Trams will have to take turns crossing the bridge to avoid placing too much stress on it. In February, the Ministry of Culture ruled that the bridge is not a protected structure, clearing the way potentially for its demolition and replacement. The city will decide in April whether to undertake a major repair of the bridge, or whether to build a new one.
