Atlanta-based developer Carter has broke ground on a new 23 story apartment project at 915 Franklin in downtown Tampa. The mixed use tower will offer 362 apartment units along with 8,000 square feet of street-level retail and a fitness center. The eight story parking garage for 460 cars included in the scheme will be topped off with rooftop pool and garden area. Carter purchased the site in September for $6.4 million. Demolition has begun on the existing structure located on the site which is expected to take two months. “The buildings will soon be down and we will be digging our foundations,” Carter chief development officer Conor McNally said. “We expect to hold a formal groundbreaking ceremony early in the new year.”
