Leasing activity on the Polish office market remains high, according to CBRE, with a total of 455,000 sqm leased in Warsaw alone during the first three quarter of the year. CBRE expects to see a significant increase in the number of lease agreements by the end of 2012 compared with 2011. Last year was considered a record year for the Warsaw office sector, with 573,000 sqm in take-up.
Despite the economic downturn, demand for new office space is growing in Poland, according to CBRE.
āIn many Polish agglomerations such as Kraków, WrocÅaw or Tricity, the amount of office space leased in the first three quarters of 2012 exceeded the total leased in the whole of 2011. This is connected mainly with the growth of the business process outsourcing sector (BPO), which already employs over 100,000 people in Poland. The most important BPO centers in our country are Warsaw, Kraków, WrocÅaw and ÅódÅŗ. The development of this sector is the main reason behind the growing demand for office space,ā said Joanna Mroczek, Director and Head of Consultancy & Research at CBRE in Poland.
