1 September 2016

The Czech antimonopoly office approved CEFC’s acquisition of the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Prague. The Chinese investor acquired the five-star property in the city’s historic Malá Strana district when it took over the Karmelitská Hotel company. The seller was the Singapore-based holding Hotel Properties Limited, which bought the hotel and its debts in 2011 for CZK 1bn. CEFC already owns the Slavia Praha football club, Lobkowicz brewery, and another five-star hotel in Prague, Le Palais Art Hotel. It also has shares in Invia.cz and Travel Servic, took over the Žďas steelworks and invested into the media groups Médea Group and Empresa Media.
