Last year, the number of completed dwellings in Central Bohemia decreased by less than seven percent to 6,385.
From the interregional point of view, the Central Bohemian Region maintained its first place in the number of completed flats, and was second only to Prague in the number of started flats. The largest housing construction in the region was in the districts of Kladno and Prague-East, said Pavel Hájek, head of the ČSÚ Regional Administration Information Services Department for the Central Bohemian Region.
The share of the Central Bohemian Region in the nationwide construction of started dwellings increased year-on-year to almost 18 percent, while it fell to completed dwellings, but remained above 18 percent. “In the Kladno region, the third highest number of flats in new apartment buildings after Prague and Brno was started in 2021, the Prague-East district even recorded the highest number of flats started in family houses in all districts of the Czech Republic,” Hájek informed.
The construction of 8079 flats started last year was 2256 flats higher than in the previous year. In 2018 and 2019, housing construction in Central Bohemia tended to stagnate; the year before, the number of dwellings started fell by a tenth.
The number of 6,385 completed dwellings was 451 smaller than in the previous year. The year-on-year decrease was recorded in another five regions, the highest being recorded in the Olomouc region. Almost a third of the flats in the region were completed in the districts of Prague-East and Prague-West, in both the number exceeded 1,000,” added Hájek.
In the whole of the Czech Republic, in 2021 the number of started flats increased by more than 28 percent. It increased in all regions except Olomoucký and Plzeňský. The number of completed dwellings increased year-on-year in eight regions, most significantly in the Vysočina Region. The Central Bohemian Region, especially its central part, has long been one of the areas with the largest housing construction in the entire country, while the Ústí nad Labem Region has had the lowest housing construction in recent years.
