According to a new report from CareerSource Central Florida, the region’s jobless rate fell 1.3 percent in August compared to the same time period last year. The unemployment rate in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Sumter counties fell to 5.1 percent last month. That’s 0.5 percent below the state’s unemployment rate of 5.6 percent.
Metro Orlando led the state in non-agricultural job gains over the year, picking up an additional 42,100 jobs. Trade, transportation and utilities added 9,500 jobs, while financial activities added 5,200 and government jobs grew by 2,000.
