Central Group has purchased another large brownfield in Prague, the former Tesla factory in Prague 9 Hloubětín. The acquisition is the third major developer to invest in the area following similar moves by Skanska and AFI, who already work on large residential projects around the Kolbenova metro station. For Central Group, it’s the third brownfield acquisition the developer has closed over the past two months in a spending spree that’s gone to CZK 2bn. Central Group bought the site with the aim to redevelop it into a residential neighborhood with ground level commercial space. The project will require changes to the master plan, however, and the developer will thus keep the existing office and storage operations on the site for the next few years. The other two recent acquisitions include a site near Thomayerova hospital in Prague 4’s Krč neighborhood near the planned metro D station and the Cetin headquarters in Prague 3 – Žižkov.
