Construction of Signify’s new distribution centre, which will be managed by CEVA, has just started in Piła. The 32,500 sq m facility will consolidate warehouse operations previously carried out at CEVA’s two distribution centres, in Piła and Robakowo. The integration of operations in one location is expected to improve operational efficiency. From the new warehouse, as in the case of the previous locations, professional and energy-efficient LED lighting (including luminaires with sensors for intelligent lighting control), both indoor and outdoor, which is used in modern shops, offices, industrial halls, large-scale facilities and cities: roads, tunnels or bridges, will be supplied to customers worldwide.
CEVA’s new distribution centre is to feature state-of-the-art automation and management of warehouse and transport processes. These include new storage systems with drive-in platforms, as well as film robots, self-propelled forklifts, palletisers or mobile printers.
The new distribution centre in Piła, built by Panattoni, is an ‘A’ class facility, meeting the highest environmental requirements, to be confirmed by BREEAM certification at the Excellent level. Among the solutions used are photovoltaic panels and LED lighting with the DALI system, the Philips Dynalite control system (motion detection and automatic lighting control), as well as the Signify circular lighting model, designed in accordance with the concept of closed-loop economy. The entire fleet of forklifts will be powered by lithium-ion batteries, supported by a fast-charging system.
In Poland, CEVA Logistics began its partnership with Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) in 2010, steadily expanding its scope. It currently manages the lighting manufacturer’s distribution in two warehouses: in Piła and Robakowo near Poznań (Wielkopolskie Voivodeship), with a total area of 37,000 sqm. From both locations, lighting equipment is delivered to customers in Poland and Central, Eastern and Southern Europe, the DACH region (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein) as well as Scandinavia and the Baltic countries. CEVA’s team of more than 300 employees provides comprehensive warehousing services, including inbound and outbound operations, warehousing, transport planning, cross – docking and numerous value-added services. These include labelling, kitting, re-packing, product testing as well as returns and picking point management. CEVA relies on the use of innovative technologies and automation solutions that increase safety and efficiency in warehouse operations and, in line with its global sustainability policy, are environmentally friendly.
