The Czech energy giant ČEZ has revealed that it will begin the construction of a major electricity storage system in Tušimice in 2018. It plans to have what is essentially a giant battery facility operational by the beginning of 2019. And it’s not alone. E.ON is about the complete work on a similar system in Mydlovary near České Budějovice at a cost of CZK 20m. Such facilities are coming into widespread use, with construction of around 20 likely to begin nationwide by 2019.
