Changes underway in Hungary’s railway system

12 March 2012

The government is planning to the Hungarian railway system in April. Its problems have been a constant problem for successive ruling governments, but none had managed to get the company back on track. The current government would take 412 train routes out of the Hungarian national railway company (MÁV) schedule with other 100 routes would be altered. Currently around 3,000 trains run per day, of which roughly 10 percent of train service is now slated to be scrapped. The details have not been made public, as the government has not made a statement yet.
