US-based automotive supplier Chassix plans to open a new €47m plant in Ostrava in 2018. The new 14,700 sqm facility is to be built by Contera in cooperation with the city of Ostrava in Ostrava Business Park. The automotive supplier’s entry to the CEE region was facilitated by Colliers International, whose industrial agency head Petr Zaoral said the company’s growth will be supported by the region’s incentive programs and the strong location. The facility is set to open in early 2018. To be able to hire the 350 staff it needs, Chassix will cooperate with the VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. Ostrava Business Park should total 62,000 sqm of production and warehouse space by the end of this year, accommodating companies such as IKEA, Schenker or Adler Czech.
