China holds 24% of EDP Portugal Energies

China controls 24.37 percent of EDP, Portugal’s primary energy provider, through the state group Guoxin International Investment and China Three Gorges. The state group Guoxin International’s investment rose from 2 percent in November 2015 to 3.02 percent in December in an acquisition that cost it €110m. The Chinese State has invested around €3bn in EDP. The China Three Gorges Group earned €576m in dividends in four years. This works out to a return of 2.7 percent annual return on its investment.
