Chinese center opens at Miskolc

A new Chinese language and cultural center opened at the University of Miskolc. In the February of 2011, the Chinese chemicals producer Wanhua Industrial Group acquired full ownership in the Hungarian chemicals producer BorsodChem and all its shares for €1.23 bn after putting €140 m into the company in 2010. With the acquisition, many Chinese professionals came to Hungary which resulted in the growing interest towards the Chinese language and culture. Around 170 students participate on the language courses. Géza Szőcs, Secretary of State for Culture of the Ministry of National Resources, said at the inauguration that nowadays we all need a reliable economic ally and a country which has such a long traditional past like China fits best for this post.
