Rizhao Jin He Biochemical Group (RZBC), a Chinese company, has chosen Borsod county in Hungary as the location for its newest citric acid factory from which it plans to supply and grow its European markets. The facility should be able to produce 100,000 tons of citric acid annually, which the company claims is 5 percent of global demand. Chinese government officials have been on a roadshow around CEE with grand visions of major infrastructure cooperation, but this new factory will create 165 new jobs in the near future. RZBC boss Xiao Qian admitted the project would receive substantial aid from the Hungarian government. The company produces roughly 13 percent of the world’s citric acid consumption.
