Chinese companies to invest about €2bn in Bulgaria

More and more Chinese investors have been turning to Bulgaria in recent months, with a about €2bn worth of projects planned for the country, including luxury property developments, an airport and a metals mine, according to Reuters.

Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co. recently signed a contract to produce 110 buses for Sofia’s public transport company and is planning to build a factory in Bulgaria. The Chinese government, meanwhile, announced a month ago that it is planning to invest about €20m to transform the Port of Burgas into a logistics center linking China to 16 countries in the CEE region, while other Chinese investors stated they intend to build a new industrial zone near Plovdiv, outside the Trakia Economic Zone.
