Chinese company in talks to buy Tirana International Airport

14 April 2016

China Everbright is in talks to acquire Tirana International Airport (TIA), which runs Albania’s only operational airport, according to local news reports. The news comes after the Albanian Transport Ministry announced earlier this month that the TIA agreed to renounce its exclusive rights over international flights to and from Albania, paving the way for other airports to opened in the country.

TIA is currently owned by AviAlliance, DEG Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, a member of the KfW banking group, and the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund.
