Chris Smith was named partner of DLA Piper’s real estate practice. He will also serve as co-chair of the law firm’s New York real estate practice. Smith’s experience spans all aspects of real estate, including joint ventures, funds, financing, direct investments, development and acquisitions and dispositions. Smith joins DLA Piper from Shearman & Sterling LLP. He is also an adjunct professor at St. John’s University School of Law. “Chris is a globally recognized and highly regarded lawyer, and his decades of experience handling complex, high-profile real estate matters will strengthen our capabilities immeasurably as we continue to grow our real estate group in New York,” said John Sullivan, chair of DLA Piper’s US real estate practice.
