Cintra, Porr and Macquarie to build Bratislava bypass in €1.7bn deal

12 May 2016

Slovak government has greenlighted the Bratislava ring-road worth €1.7bn. The project was supported by leading government coalition Smer-SD, together with another coalition partner, Sieť. Transport minister Roman Brecely should sign contract with the winner of the tender today, according to local media. The D4 motorway will run north-east around the edge of the greater Bratislava area, with the R7 expressway cutting through to connect the city center with suburbs and municipalities to the southeast. Both of the four-lane transport arteries will add 59 km to the Slovak road network. An international consortium between Cintra (Spain), Porr and Macquarie Capital Group won the tender to build, operate and maintain the new roads in a PPP model. The government will pay back the companies over the next 30 years.
