Cintra, Porr and Macquarie to expand D1 from Bratislava to Senec

4 November 2016

The Slovak Transport Ministry wants to put the consortium of Cintra, Porr and Macquarie, which recently started working on the Bratislava ring road (D4) as a PPP project, in charge of the D1 motorway expansion. The project should have been overseen by the National Motorway Company (NDS), with completion set for 2020. However, the transport ministry wants the consortium to take over, as the deadline is too tight for the state-owned company. The D1 expansion from Bratislava to Senec could be financed by the consortium as a PPP project, with the state repaying the investment over the next 30 years. The project would also include expanding the D1 to four lanes in either direction, plus additional emergency lanes.
