Work on the Bratislava ring road, a combination of the D4 motorway and the R7 expressway, should start this spring. The 59.1km ring road will be financed by private investors through a PPP project. The state will pay off the costs to the motorway licensee, the Spanish construction company Cintra, for 30 years. Groundwork is already underway, as are land buyouts, with the majority of the land already in the hands of the state. Some of the D4 sites still need to be purchased. The R7 section at Holice near Dunajska Streda will go up first. The whole D4/R7 project is scheduled for completion in 2020. The R7 expressway should open for cars in April 2018.
