The City Hall of Aveiro has approved the purchase of 27 plots of land in Cacia to construct the new access roads for an industrial zone to be occupied by the paper pulp manufacturer Portucel Soporcel. The 27 plots will cost €320,000. Aveiro’s president Ribau Esteves said the new factory was of critical importance to the area, and that the new factory would eventually produce 240,000 tons annually, following a €420m investment. He said 300 new jobs should be created in Aveiro by 2022. The first phase of investment would require €100m and should result in 100 new jobs.
