CityWave, the new generation office building designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group at CityLife, has received the WiredScore Platinum certification, the highest recognition provided by the WiredScore international certification system for the connectivity and application of smart technologies in buildings.
CityWave is the first building in Milan and Italy to obtain the Platinum level by WiredScore, establishing itself as a new paradigm for the offices of the future also for the innovative features of its infrastructure and broadband connection.
The two buildings named East and West of CityWave were subjected to a rating process based on results and performances defined by the WiredScore certification system, which examines five evaluation criteria: characteristics of the infrastructure; energy resilience; wireless network and connectivity; possibility of choosing between different providers; and user experience.
Manens-Tifs has supported CityLife S.p.A. as WiredScore AP (“Accredited Professionals”), providing design consultancy services in order to meet the standards required for obtaining the WiredScore certification. The Platinum certification places CityWave among cutting-edge projects developed in European and international capitals awarded for the same qualities, such as the Shard in London, the Empire State Building in New York and Omniturm in Frankfurt.
Marco Beccati, CityLife S.p.A. Technical Director commented, “The recognition of the Platinum level by WiredScore confirms CityWave’s alignment with the highest global standards in terms of quality and resilience of the digital infrastructure. The connective and technological solutions enabled in the building will be a fundamental element to make CityWave a sustainable and cutting-edge workplace model”.
Henry Pethybridge, Director of Growth Markets, WiredScore declared, “Securing the first WiredScore certification in both Milan and Italy is a notable achievement for both CityLife and also the wider Italian real estate industry. By placing first-class digital infrastructure as a priority for CityWave, CityLife is ensuring an exceptional user experience for tenants of the building as well as securing its potion as a forward-looking landlord who is placing exceptional connectivity at the heart of the built environment.”
CityWave, which has already obtained the LEED™ pre-certification by classifying itself at Platinum level, fulfills CityLife’s commitment to urban redevelopment and sustainability, the cornerstones that have characterized the development of the neighborhood. The building will be powered exclusively by renewable sources, representing the first office building to overcome zero impact, thanks to the most innovative solutions in the energy field. The East and West buildings will be covered with an area of approximately 11,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels which will constitute the largest photovoltaic park in Milan and one of the largest urban photovoltaic parks in Italy, providing an energy production estimated at 1,200 MWh per year with an installed power of nearly 2 MWh.
