Civil construction sector will be the main growth engine for the construction industry in Romania in the coming years, due to EU-financed infrastructure projects, according to a research report presented by the Polish research company, PMR.
The turnover of civil construction sector increased by 16 percent last year, RON 35 bn (€ 8.3 bn), due to road infrastructure projects, segment who could keep up the trend in 2015. Residential and non-residential construction segment declined last year and remain in a difficult situation.
The road infrastructure works had less significant down fall in 2009 and 2010, and grew last year to RON 18.7 bn (€4.4 bn), turnover of almost nine times higher than the level in 2002 and over 20 percent higher than in 2010, according to PMR.
