Clariant has broken ground on a production plant near the city of Craiova in southern Romania. The Swiss group is planning to use its sunliquid technology to produce cellulosic ethanol made from agricultural residues at the new facility. “After more than a decade of research and development, Clariant is investing more than €100m in its first sunliquid plant. This technology is pioneering not only in Europe but also globally,” said Christian Kohlpaintner, Clariant’s executive committee member. Between 100 and 120 people will work at the plant.
