BMW has chosen Colas CZ and Colas Projects to build its new testing center in the west of the Czech Republic. Hospodářské noviny writes that the company came out on top in a tender held by the German automobile manufacturer for the facility it plans to use to develop driverless vehicles. The Czech Republic promised to contribute CZK 528m in investment incentives in return for a promise by BMW to create at least 250 jobs. In reality, the investment could run to as much as CZK 6bn and result in work for over 400, writes HN. Colas CZ and Colas Projects will be in charge of building more than 100 kilometers of roads on the 525 ha site that will simulate everything from motorway driving conditions, multi-lane roads, city traffic as well as winding hills. Initial operations should begin by 2021 but it will take until 2024 to complete the entire center.
