Completion of D6 could take Czech builders till after 2026

16 April 2018

The D6 motorway might not be ready before 2026, according to the current transport minister Dan Ťok. He blamed the delay on the need to carry out a new EIA for the remaining sections of road in the Central Bohemian and Usti regions. The sections of the D6 located in the Karlovy Vary region will be built last, he said, while a final one near the town of Žalmanova doesn’t even have planning approval. “We have to realize that no one has done anything on this motorway in a long time,” he said. “We began work on last year and on three sections of the road work is actually taking place, but it can’t happen overnight. I think that even a completion date of 2026 is going to be tight. I’d be very glad if we made it,” he said, adding that the D6 had not been a priority of the previous government.
