Construction begins on Bratislava’s ring road

25 October 2016

Construction has gotten underway on the Bratislava ring road, which will allow traffic heading to the east of the country to avoid the increasingly congested express roads that currently bisect the center of the Slovak capital. “The road will be the one that helps all the citizens in the region who spend nearly four hours each day in the car and are thinking about what to do. Whether to move or whether to stay,” said transport minister Arpad Ersek. The new R7 express road along with the D4 motorway will be built by a consortium led by the company Cintra. Cintra will be submitting construction permits in the coming weeks as well as visiting all of the towns that will be affected by construction about the timetable for the work. The entire project is planned for completion by 2020.
