Construction of a university building for pharmaceutics and biotechnology begins in Brno

11 March 2024

Construction of the BioPharma Hub building on the campus of Masaryk University in Brno will begin today. It is a strategic project and the second largest investment in the history of Masaryk University, worth more than four billion crowns. The six-storey building will be used for teaching and research in pharmacy and biotechnology.

The construction work has already started, and today Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) and other representatives of the government, local government and academia will tap the foundation stone. It is also part of the celebration of the 105th anniversary of the foundation of Masaryk University.

The BioPharma Hub will connect modern teaching facilities for the Faculty of Pharmacy and the cutting-edge research infrastructure of the preclinical centre and the molecular medicine centre for the Faculty of Medicine and Science. The new infrastructure should also bring business opportunities to Brno, especially in the pharmaceutical manufacturing and biotechnology development sectors.
