Construction production in the Czech Republic moderated its year-on-year decline to 0.4 percent in August. In July, it was lower by 2.7 percent, after growing for more than a year. In civil construction, i.e. the construction of buildings, production increased by 0.1 percent in August compared to the same month last year, while in engineering construction, which includes the construction of roads or telecommunications and energy networks, it fell by 1.4 percent. The Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) informed about this today. Construction output was 1.4 percent higher month-on-month.
“Construction production in August increased by 1.4 percent month-on-month after five months, and the growth took place in both segments. Year-on-year, it remained at last year’s relatively decent level and fell by only 0.4 percent. The growth of construction production is further dampened by the high prices of construction works and materials,” said Radek Matějka, director of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Industry, Construction and Energy Statistics of the ČSÚ.
