Construction is set to kick off on Tampa’s first JW Marriott hotel at the master planned Water Street Tampa. The waterfront development will feature a 26-story building with 527 room keys, a four story atrium, a sixth floor spa and gym and the highest rooftop bar in Tampa. The project architect is Coral Gables-based Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates. Strategic Property Partners (SPP), the company behind Water Street Tampa, is a joint venture between Tampa Bay Lighting owner Jeff Vinik and Cascade Investment, controlled by Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Water Street Tampa is a 40-acre development along downtown Tampa’s waterfront that will encompass more than nine million square feet of commercial, residential, educational, cultural, retail and hospitality space.
