Continental AG is planning to build a new factory at the Mali Bajmok Industrial Zone in Subotica, through its regional subsidiary Contitech Fluid Serbia. The local city council is set to transfer a 25,000 sqm plot to the German automotive manufacturer in the following weeks, once the plan is approved by the Serbian government. Costs are expected to hit €17m, with the state kicking in €3m in public support, according to local media reports. The company is planning to employ 500 people at its new factory.
Continental has been active in in Subotica since 2011. It currently employs about 600 workers at its factory, which produces components for the automotive and truck industry.
