According to the latest official data, 13 people died of Covid-19 in Serbia yesterday, the largest number of deaths in one day since the beginning of the pandemic. A state of emergency has been declared in 22 cities and municipalities in Serbia.
President Aleksandar Vucic warned that the situation in Belgrade is alarming and announced a lockdown from Friday at 6 pm until Monday morning. He added that this should be respected across the whole of Serbia. A ban on gatherings of more than five people will go into effect Wednesday evening.
After the President’s speech to citizens last night, protests broke out that led to clashes between demonstrators and the police. There were injuries to both demonstrators and police officers, but the situation in Belgrade is currently calm.
