At the end of last week, the District Court for Prague 1 imposed fines in the case of the sale of city apartments, in which 30 people were charged. According to the indictment, they sold 22 lucrative properties in the center of Prague for a lower price than was later determined by an expert opinion. According to the plaintiff, they did not find out what the usual prices were. Some of the defendants filed an objection against the sentence issued by the criminal order, so the court will discuss the case in the main trial. The Seznam Správy server reported yesterday.
According to the server, politicians and officials are among the defendants. According to the public prosecutor, they committed obstruction of the task of an official or breach of duty in the management of another’s property, and thus caused damage of CZK 32.57 million. “The defendants were fined,” said Pavla Hájková, spokeswoman for the District Court for Prague 1. “A grand trial will be ordered,” she added, pointing to objections filed against the criminal order.
According to earlier information from Seznam Zpráv, former mayor Oldřich Lomecký (then TOP 09), his deputy Daniel Hodek (ČSSD), two current councilors of Prague 1 Jan Votoček (TOP 09) and Richard Bureš (ODS) or representative Filip Kračman ( TOP 09). Bureš and Votoček are preparing to file a protest, they said.
“The police authority believes that it is obvious even to the public that the usual prices of some housing units in the affected localities are higher than the prices for which the housing units marked above were sold,” the investigators wrote in the accusation. According to him, Prague 1 sold, for example, a 4+kk apartment with an area of 143 square meters in Klimentská street for CZK 7.5 million, but according to the expert’s opinion, the price should have been CZK 3.9 million higher.
