A Romanian court rejected Polus Real Estate’s request to build a photovoltaic park in Cluj-Napoca. The developer was originally planning to build housing at the site in partnership with the Cluj-Napoca City Council. However, Polus Real Estate scrapped the housing plans in 2010 and started trying to secure permits to build a photovoltaic park. The developer said it decided to change its investment plans and focus on energy due to the financial crisis. Following the court’s ruling, Polus Real Estate said it would resume work on the housing project this year. Called Cartierul Tineretului, the scheme includes more than 3,000 apartments and nearly 200 penthouses, mansions and houses spread over 203 ha.
