COVID in the Czech Republic is slowing down, with 8763 cases on Wednesday

On Wednesday, there were 8,763 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the Czech Republic. Compared to the same day last week, the increase was about a quarter lower. Since the epidemic began in March last year, 25,450 people have died with established coronavirus, of which about 18 percent this month. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health.

The total number of proven cases of new coronavirus infection in the Czech Republic is close to 1.5 million. The daily numbers of newly infected in the week-on-week comparison have been declining since about the first weekend in March. Since the beginning of March, 255,098 new cases have been added to the statistics.

The value of the PES system, which previously governed anti-epidemic measures in the Czech Republic, is the second day at 59 points. This corresponds to the third of the five levels of risk. Compared to the previous day, the reproductive number slightly worsened on Wednesday, rising by one hundredth to 0.83. It has been below the break-even value of one since March 9. The speed of the epidemic has been slowing down for about two and a half weeks.
