The annual CIJ Awards 2014 for the Czech Republic were held last night at the Marriott Hotel in Prague in front of a capacity crowd. The event brought together the country’s top real estate developers, investors and market players to honor the nominees and the winners of 17 prizes handed out over the course of the evening. The high quality of all the nominations were a tribute to the improved economic prospects in the Czech Republic. But they also demonstrate that only the most sophisticated developers are able to succeed in today’s competitive environment.
While the prizes were handed out to a wide variety of companies and individuals, there were some standout winners who returned repeatedly to the podium. Among the big winners was CPI Property Group, whose project Quadrio in central Prague won both the Best Office Development and the ESSA Leading Green Building prize for 2014. CPI’s entire team, led by Development Director Igor Klajmon, came on stage at the end of the evening to accept the Developer of the Year honors.
CTP’s Remon Vos was another repeat visitor to the podium, as his company’s highly specialized scheme D2.1 – FEI took the prize for Best Industrial/Warehouse Development, as well as for Lease of the Year. Remon Vos personally was summoned to the stage to accept the Industry Leadership Award for 2014. Finally, in a pair of out-of-Prague wins, Centrum Pivovar Děčín by Settimo Management took the Best Shopping Center Development prize, while UBM won Best Residential Development for its project Apartmány Medvědín, located in Špindlerův Mlýn. Skanska Property Czech Republic was honored as the ESSA Green Developer of the Year.
In the company categories, awards chosen chosen by the top management at companies involved in the Czech property sector, there was a broad selection of winners. Dentons picked up the Law Firm of the Year prize, while Česká spořitelna took the top prize for Financial Service Provider of the Year. Among the agencies, there was a cross-section of winners. Cushman & Wakefield won the Retail Agency of the Year prize, while JLL was the CIJ readers’ choice for Logistics Agency of the Year for 2014 as well as Capital Markets Team of the Year. Wrapping up the company awards, CBRE took home two prizes for Office Agency of the Year as well as Property Management Team of the Year. Finally, Svoboda & Williams was the winner for the Local Agency of the Year prize.
