CPI Property Group has started demolition work at the abandoned Bubny railway station in Prague 7 Holešovice, which it plans to clear for future re-development. The step triggered protests from Prague’s mayor Adriana Krnáčová and the mayor of Prague 7 Jan Čižinský. Krnáčová said she wanted to save at least part of the historic buildings in the 27 ha area, claiming the former Czech Railways workshops should be treated as technical monuments. CPI PG spokesman Jan Burian says the interior columns will be preserved, as they are protected as a historical monument. The work is expected to continue for three months. Burian says a demolition permit for the area was issued in 2013 and is valid until the end of 2015.
