Crater appears above metro extension in Prague 6

9 July 2012

Evropská street in Prague, which connects the city center with the International Airport in Prague Ruzyně, was the venue for the latest in a series of construction collapses in projects led by the Czech contractor Metrostav. Over the weekend, a large hole opened up in the earth over one of the future metro stations now under construction.
Metrostav spokesperson František Polák cited weather issues as the cause, as it did earlier this year when it was charged that excessive heat led some of the steel in the residential project Prague Marina to warp. This time, Polak said heavy rain caused the road collapse.
