Croatia could open borders first for campers

20 April 2020

Croatia’s government will discuss measures to unlock the Croatian economy beginning next week. The restrictive measures have now been in place for a full month. The most anticipated relaxation measures concern the tourism industry, as Croatian resorts and tour companies are anxious to be able to start marketing their beaches and attractions. Many are hoping that intercity traffic restrictions for Croatian residents will be lifted soon and that opening the borders if the virus remains under control could promote foreign tourist revenues. It’s begin suggested that autocamps be made available to visitors whose campers have their own toilet facilities along with family homes that are rented to families. Cafes and restaurants are pushing to be allowed to open up their terraces. Consideration is also being given to allow the opening of a variety of stores, such as hairdressers, beauty salons and massage parlors, but only provided strict guidelines are followed. The opening of gyms and fitness centers is still pending.
