The coronavirus pandemic took as much as EUR 5.12 billion in tourism revenue to Croatia in the three quarters of last year, although last tourist season was better than what most tourist workers had hoped for. This is shown by the data of the Croatian National Bank, according to which earnings from exports of tourism and travel services in the three quarters of last year were EUR 4.31 billion, while in the same period in 2019 Croatia generated revenues from exports of tourism services of as much as EUR 9.4 billion. The drop is more than 54 percent.
Only in the third quarter of last year with tourist restrictions, Croatia generated revenues that were EUR 3.25 billion lower than in the same period in 2019. Revenue in the third quarter of 2019 was EUR 6.626 billion, while last year it was EUR 3.37 billion.
Not only is the export of services in tourism declining, it has also occurred in other industries, but it is still lower, as is the revenue that has been lost for example, in construction, the decline in revenues from exports of services was 29 percent, and in transportation 37 percent. In total, Croatia exported EUR 7.076 billion in services in the first three quarters last year, which is 46 percent less than in the same period in 2019.
