The industrial developer CTP announced the end of criminal proceedings against it over the company’s development in Hradec Kralove. Czech police had been investigating a proposed financial gift by the company to the city, which the developer says it offered transparently to help cover the potential costs of widening a road needed for CTP’s project there. The city turned down the gesture, which some local politicians described as a bribe. In beginning investigations into the gift, police claimed CTP had hoped to win consent for construction of a partially completed project on the edge of the town. “I’m glad I can confirm the rescinding of charges against our company,” said Luboš Zajíček, head of CTP’s legal division. “This step proves that we chose a legitimate approach in our negotiations with the local leadership. At the moment, we’re planning to offer the city a meeting in order to discuss how to proceed from here.”
