Cyfrowy Polsat tunes in TV mobile business

22 June 2012

Polish number one satellite platform, Cyfrowy Polsat, is targeting the online market, with iPla, a new product scheduled to be introduced after the summer. CF’s owner, Zygmunt Solorz-Żak believes video online services will drive the online sector over the coming years, meaning his company needs to have the tools that will soon dominate the market. Having just acquired T-mobile, Solorz-Żak has a chance to forestall the competition.

Along with the high-speed internet LTD, mobile TV could attract many Poles to switch over to an online mode of viewing. “The integration services could help us offer more for a relatively low price, that could lead to brand loyalty,” says Dominik Libnicki, the chairman of Cyfrowy Polsat’s board of directors. According to recent research by Ericsson, nearly half of the population will be using LTD internet services. Cyfrowy Polsat’s project would be the first project to combine mobile TV with mobile Internet.
