Czech construction depends on Ukrainian workers

3 October 2014

The Czech construction sector could be hard hit by the conflict in Ukraine. Companies admit that if many of the Ukrainian workers they employ decide to return to their native country, a lot of construction businesses in the Czech Republic may go bust. Evžen Korec, head of the residential developer Ekospol, told MF Dnes that construction in the Czech Republic depends on foreign workers, most of whom come from Ukraine, as there is a lack of qualified workers in the sector. A mass exit of Ukrainian workers might considerably slow down the construction sector, Korec added.
