The long-term lack of construction orders continues to push prices for construction works down. Over the course of 2011, fell by just 0.5 percent according to the Czech Statistical Office, but developers say the difference between now and during the boom years before 2009 is stunning. Finep admits to a drop in construction prices by 10-15 percent, while Ekospol goes even further. Its director Dušan Korec says that while overall the prices are 20 percent lower, developers are able to forced suppliers into 30 percent discounts, compared to the boom years. “But this will most probably mean lower quality,” the server Stavební fórum quotes Korec as saying.
