The Czech regional development minister Klára Dostálová told the daily Denik that while the new construction law won’t come into effect until 2023, investors should be able to submit project documentation electronically. “So that investors don’t have to drive to the construction office with delivery vans,” she told the paper. A specialized portal is to be created for this purpose thanks to a €4bn grant from the European Funds. The money is also to be used to equip construction offices around the country with the equipment needed to digitalize documentation that’s submitted on paper. Dostálová said the plan is to get rid of the smallest municipal construction offices that have just one person by combining them with larger offices. In all, she expects the number of construction offices to fall from 714 to around 300. They are to be divided into four levels, with the first two handling the smallest projects. The third and fourth tier offices would deal with the construction of shopping centers, large residential projects, stadiums and hospitals.
