Czech FinMin to build new headquarters

22 December 2014

The Czech Finance Ministry plans to offload eight buildings in the Prague city center and build new headquarters, where it will relocate all its staff. Deputy Finance Minister Ondřej Závodský told ČTK that conservative estimates indicate that the sale could add some CZK 4bn to the ministry’s coffers. The new, environmentally efficient headquarters for 1,100 officials is expected to cost CZK 2bn. Finance Minister Andrej Babiš has already approved the plan, but he said that the transaction will require a change to the law, meaning that works on the project can start in 2016. The ministry, however, has started looking for a plot that is within walking distance from a metro station.
