The Czech government has approved mandatory testing in companies. It starts on Wednesday. Businesses are looking for tests for two million employees.
Thousands of Czech companies are hastily looking for tests for their employees. After Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) announced on Sunday that the government would order companies to test their employees as early as March 5, suppliers began to receive orders for tens of millions of crowns.
The obligation to test employees was approved by the government on Monday evening. It will start this Wednesday and will touch 10,000 companies. 2.1 million employees are to be tested in them over the next two weeks. “Comprehensive testing in companies will be mandatory. This makes them part of the solution to the covid crisis. All employees of companies with more than 250 employees must have the first tests by March 12, and employees of companies from 50 to 249 employees by March 15,” confirmed Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček (for YES). Businesses that do not test employees on time will be forced to close down. If they do not obey, they face a high fine. According to Havlíček, specific sanctions are still being worked on.
