Construction of the České Budějovice ring road should start no later than 2016, according to an agreement between the Czech industry and trade minister, Martin Kuba, and transport minister, Pavel Dobes. The ring road is key to the completion of the D3 motorway, which will connect Prague to České Budějovice and Austria. Kuba said land assembly should be accelerated over the next two years, so that a construction permit for the ring road can be secured by 2015. Theoretically, then, work could start the following year. The government will have to invest around CZK 800m to buy the land. The ring road, which should take two to three years to finish, is projected to cost CZK 10bn.
