News of the spread of Coronavirus is spreading far more quickly than the actual disease, a problem that’s already hurting Czech hotel owners. Not surprisingly, the number of visitors from China has plummeted, with hotels being forced to cancel reservations without charge. But the arrival of Coronavirus in Europe comes at a time when the first waves of tourists were due to begin filling the streets of Prague and other Czech destinations. “Travel agencies from Italy that bring students here during their holidays have been contacting us,” an anonymous source from a smaller Prague hotel told iDNES.cz. “The state schools in particular will probably cancel their trips, or put them off.” In fact, the Italian Ministry of Education has banned trips abroad for students. The Prague airport is currently taking formal measures to screen for the disease. However, as recently as Tuesday evening, travelers arriving from Bergamo saw no evidence of special precautions and were controlled by no medical staff.
